A Solution at Last E-mail
February 21, 2011

I do a lot of small repairs and fix things around the house that originate on the "Honey -Do" list.  Ever since we moved, though, I lost my handy dandy workbench.  The old house had a built in that we had to leave behind and I've been looking for months for a replacement.

The problem?  Every one that I looked at was way too flimsy, was specific to wood working (which I do not do), or were part of a monster custom solution that cost thousands and thousands of dollars.  I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted but I knew it had to be simple, strong, functional, and flexible.  I still don't have the whole garage planned out yet but using the floor for a work surface wasn't really condusive to putting out any significant quality of work. (Have you ever tried to level something that spanned two different size boxes?  Here's a tip: don't)

I went online and found a modular system from Sears that was exactly the solution I was looking for!  It had all the components I wanted but I could add the other pieces I needed as the budget allowed.  But here's the kicker:  not only was the frame and surface on sale, there was a $15.00 coupon on any tool purchase over $100.00! The coupon says one coupon per purchase - so we split up the purchases for an additional $30.00 off!

Now I have a workbench that is well within budget for my needs today and is practically future-proof with the other accessories I can buy later.  Not only that, now I can start working on a way to get the matching tool storage and cupboards for my birthday!
